Jay Z ,Washed Up ?
Yo whats up with the big homey, Mr. Sean Carter, is Jay Z really making dope music or are we just programmed by, over 10 summers of radio heavy and popular singles of the Jigga Man's most memorable flows, but does he still really have it? True Hova fans have to know the truth, and the truth is we could of asked this since his 'Kingdom Come' album ,yea you remember that "Show me what u got /Wave" song ,we were simultaneously happy about Jay's comeback at that time and the fact he apparently was doing well enough to afford a great looking video and secretly a little nervous about the wackness of the actual song too, Also do we need Jay Z rapping when we all know so many better MC's (insert ya favorite MC here ) out there that aren't getting a fair chance that are at least equally as good and better than Jay is now, being staged blocked by old heads who are veterans who don't wanna retire, but choose to stay in direct competition of new fresh acts . We all know lyrical content is way more important to a song, however if an artist has shot to selling millions and retained his money he can lose his street edge ,and his imagination, because he no longer has to imagine what it is to be rich and living a super star life, therefore his music has lost the magic ,but loyal fans are now hooked like crack fiends chasing that high they got from the artist's earlier material, so now the newly crossed over artist make an overtly expensive video with all the excessive shots we have been trained to think is necessary and cool and we get that confused with good music take this video for example, object width="640" height="385"> Personally if Jay Z never picks up the mic anymore, I will be fine with that because he stopped making good music years ago,I mean come on why was 'Empire state of mind' a smash hit it's a catchy home town anthem at best, no reason that song should have been playing in hoods that has nothing to do with the New York experience ,the original writers of that song wrote it because they were homesick in another country. But when you can put a ton of money behind a single you can buy yourself a smash hit, and convince people you are still musically viable , same thing was done with the 'Show me what you got" video all bling and shot in Monaco to resemble a James Bond movie, and not really lyrically or musically innovative as his earlier recordings. We as fans should be understandable as long as our favorite artists aren't blatantly selling us fluff and trying to pass it off as solid material.f
