Rappers reinventing themselves
Ok folks, Let's get straight to it....LIL'KIM DON'T MAKE ANYMORE DISS SONGS, NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR IT. Ok, maybe her die hrd fans do want to hear it, but let's face it, that isn't a relevant number anymore. I have love for Lil' Kim and I support her theory that her image (I don't like the world swager) was jacked by Ms. Manaj, but Lil' Kim is not a battle rapper, therefore we don't want to hear her battle.
Now to tie this in with the tittle of this article, Lil' Kim is an established, trend setting, icon in the game (dare I say). Her legacy was set by being raunchy, extremely sexual, almost female pimpish, NOW YOU WANT US TO BELIEVE YOU AS A BATTLE RAPPER? You never had one battle in your long lasting career, so you can't switch lanes now Kim. Rappers who just came out, like Manaj, can do that and be more credible because nothing about her is set in stone yet, basically she is still trying to figure out what her legacy will be if any, but Kim already has one.
Since this article is about rappers reinventing themselves (after establishing themselves), allow me to speak on some other rappers who's fans might question their change of direction...heeeeeeeeeeere we go.....
Redman! Why, Why, Why!? You are Mr. Muddy Waters, not Mr. Autotune. I don't know if your just experimenting or what, but my question is, why do it now? You have always been known for your grittiness and your "supaman lova" antics, now you want to introduce the world to Reggie Noble...Ain't y'all the same people? I have not heard all of your mixtape, but my homeboy who loves REDMAN like I do has it, and he was left disappointed and utterly confused with all the autotune and commercial reaches on it. If your single is any indication of the rest of the music...then I might just have to pass.
Redman - Fly found on Hip-Hop
Now on to the GREAT, the EXTRAORDINARY, MC that they call Hammer (can't touch this). Now for you I will make it short, and sweet. YOUR AN EMCEE THAT MADE DANCE SONGS, why do you old artist want to battle now.....you are not believable Hammer! I'm not gonna say whether of not you should still rap (probably not) but you DEFINITELY should not make battle songs against Jay Z, or anybody else for that matter. Your remix was A LITTLE better, but that's because you were not rapping on it.
Funk Master Flex Night
So, have you heard what Funk Master Flex said about Tupac? If you didn't, allow me to summarize, "I didn't fuck with Tupac like that, everybody is on Tupac nuts but I aint suckin his dick....make some noise if you miss Biggie Smalls". Wtf is wrong with this dude. Before I go any further, let the record show that I AM FROM THE EAST COAST, I don't know if that matters, but nobody can say that I'm the typical west sida rida bangin on a east coast dude. NO EAST COAST WEST COAST BEEF HERE MY FRIEND!
Now on wit da article: Flex later made a statement that he just didn't feel Pac was that great, and that Pac brought a lot of negative energy to the game. He said that he understands that a lot of people love Pac, and that he recognizes Pac's contribution to the game, but Flex does not have to love him.
To this Mr. Funkmaster I say this: No you do not have to love him, but please come better than "he brought a lot of negative energy to the game". Yes he did diss a lot of people, but they have been doing that since the BDP VS. Queensbridge battle. Battling is a sport that goes hand and hand with Hip Hop, so to you Flex I quote your a fellow New Yorker, and a victim of Pac's onslaught, "We don't believe you, you need more people"
On a more serious note Flex, why would you come out with this foolishness after the man dies? Haven't you ever heard "do not speak ill of the dead"? You did claim that there were "shots" fired between you two on mixtapes when Pac was alive, which I don't recall, but I'll give you the benifit of the doubt. I also heard rumblings of these audio clips being leaked by someone else, even if they were, you made a statement later expressing no remorse, rather you reinforced the satement and that you stand by it.
My question is: What does this prove? Coming out saying you didn't fuck with the guy who died several years ago? Are you trying to flair up New York pride, while getting a bunch of West Coast individuals mad? Maybe your trying to start another East Coast/West Coast publicity frenzie. Whatever possible reason you could rationalize....IT'S STUPID AND UNCALLED FOR.
p.s All this negative energy that you say Pac brought to the game, was the same negative energy that Mr. Jigga man himself embodies, and to the same exact emcees from the East Coast.
p.s.s Pac also did "DEAR Mama" and "Keep your head up" etc. Those are positive songs Flex.

STOP CRYING!!!
So it seems like Lupe Fiasco on some site crying every week about how downloads a hurting his career, and how people are stealing his music...blah...blah....blah! Well Mr. Fiasco, before I go any further let me say that I think you are talented AND I have bought your first two albums, now to the good stuff. My first reaction I have to offer you is that, you simply need to make broader music.
Everyone knows your style already, you don't switch it up. I'm not saying "Dumb it down" but you don't make anything dancable, and people are are trying to go to the club, not me, but a lot of dj's would spin you if you made music that, at least, considered there audience.
Ok, here's a revalation for you Lupe, WE DIDN'T LEAK IT! So you need to direct your tears at who did. This is a world of supply and demand, so if the product is there and ppl want it.....well you get the picture. You can either look at these downloads the way you have been, and look like a 3 year old crybaby to the fans that you do have and turn them away, or you can look at it like PEOPLE LIKE YOUR MUSIC, it's not their fault that someone is leaking it.....because even if it weren't leaked...we would still want it.
My last point to you is that, PEOPLE STILL BUY MUSIC. How do you think Jay Z, Wayne, and Nas sold so much? Bottom line is that you cannot stop the internet, but you may have a chance at stopping whoever is leaking your shit out the studio. Maybe if you made better, or more well rounded music, you would sell more.....just a theory.
In conclusion, STOP BLAMING YOUR FANS, or else they wont be your fans too much longer. That's just REAL!

Jay Z ,Washed Up ?
Yo whats up with the big homey, Mr. Sean Carter, is Jay Z really making dope music or are we just programmed by, over 10 summers of radio heavy and popular singles of the Jigga Man's most memorable flows, but does he still really have it? True Hova fans have to know the truth, and the truth is we could of asked this since his 'Kingdom Come' album ,yea you remember that "Show me what u got /Wave" song ,we were simultaneously happy about Jay's comeback at that time and the fact he apparently was doing well enough to afford a great looking video and secretly a little nervous about the wackness of the actual song too, Also do we need Jay Z rapping when we all know so many better MC's (insert ya favorite MC here ) out there that aren't getting a fair chance that are at least equally as good and better than Jay is now, being staged blocked by old heads who are veterans who don't wanna retire, but choose to stay in direct competition of new fresh acts . We all know lyrical content is way more important to a song, however if an artist has shot to selling millions and retained his money he can lose his street edge ,and his imagination, because he no longer has to imagine what it is to be rich and living a super star life, therefore his music has lost the magic ,but loyal fans are now hooked like crack fiends chasing that high they got from the artist's earlier material, so now the newly crossed over artist make an overtly expensive video with all the excessive shots we have been trained to think is necessary and cool and we get that confused with good music take this video for example, object width="640" height="385"> Personally if Jay Z never picks up the mic anymore, I will be fine with that because he stopped making good music years ago,I mean come on why was 'Empire state of mind' a smash hit it's a catchy home town anthem at best, no reason that song should have been playing in hoods that has nothing to do with the New York experience ,the original writers of that song wrote it because they were homesick in another country. But when you can put a ton of money behind a single you can buy yourself a smash hit, and convince people you are still musically viable , same thing was done with the 'Show me what you got" video all bling and shot in Monaco to resemble a James Bond movie, and not really lyrically or musically innovative as his earlier recordings. We as fans should be understandable as long as our favorite artists aren't blatantly selling us fluff and trying to pass it off as solid material.f
